Cmq, non vorrei fare la perfettina, ma non sono nati a Leon. Leon è infatti il nome del loro papà e del loro nonno, da cui hanno preso il nome della band.

"My songs are often puzzles. It's kind of a confidence thing, as I'm scared of people critiquing me too much, but I want to really intrigue people and tell good, old-fashioned stories. People might hate me for writing obvious songs, but I've started to on this record." (Indeed, 'Because Of The Times' shows a heightened coherence to his tales and in the way he conveys them). "With this record I'm opening up a little more. It's the first time I've sung. I've been able to sing since I was a kid, but I would alter the way I sang so people wouldn't understand it. I even hear the guys in the band singing our songs and getting the lyrics wrong and it cracks me up."

Jared talking about his musical influences:
"It has a lot to do with bands we listen to and bands we look up to. Not just influences from older stuff, but new bands that come out and challenge us to take a step forward in a new direction. We did the lo-fi thing when we first started and kept things really simple. We thought we nailed that whole sound down so then we moved on to a different sound with the second record, which was slightly more progressive. We don’t like to try and recreate anything we’ve done before...So, with each record we try to do something new. And really, we get bored very easily. I think we all have ADD, so who knows what the band will sound like in 10 years? It could sound exactly like we did when we first started or it could be completely different."

Nathan talking about the bands growing popularity:
"Going into this record (OBTT), I don’t know if we necessarily set out to make a record that would sound good in stadiums or arenas, but we had the fortune of touring with bands like U2, Pearl Jam, and Bob Dylan, and we got to play to crowds that were much bigger than we’ve ever played before, especially in America. I think it's kind of hard not to subconsciously go to that place when it comes time to start the process of making a new record. We definitely wanted to keep it in mind that we would still be playing to smaller crowds in America — as opposed to the crowds in Europe, Glastonbury, all that stuff — so we didn’t want to make a record that would alienate our audiences over here by songs that are way too big-sounding for the size of the room we’re playing."

Matthew talking about growing up:
"Growing up, me, Caleb and Jared, our life was eerily similar to the life we lead now. We'd pull into a town on the Monday, set up shop, have three, maybe four services, then we'd break everything down, stick everything into the trunk of the car and drive on to the next town. So I did that for fifteen years of my life, so now we come and do this and it's pull the bus into the town, play a show, maybe get a hotel, if not hop on the bus, drive to the next town. That way though, we'd get to stay somewhere for two or three days. Now people say we're so lucky to see so much of the world, but in reality, you pull into the place sound asleep, sound check, play a show, party 'til you pass out and wake up in the next town so we don't get to see anything at all."
